About IAHV

We live in fast-paced and conflict-ridden times. Violence and pain, stress, anxiety, and feelings of powerlessness are widespread. This is where the IAHV comes in, promoting mental, emotional, and social well-being through various programs.

The programs take a holistic psychosocial approach. The methods and techniques are evidence-based and effective, yet easy to learn. They support self-empowerment and the reduction of tension and stress reactions.

IAHV programs are successfully implemented with people and groups from all backgrounds. They aim to strengthen fundamental human values at the individual and community level.

What are human values?

Nonviolence and a willingness to take social responsibility—all these inner attitudes represent fundamental human values. These values must be nurtured repeatedly in order for them to bear fruit.

Children are born with a great openness and have the potential to live these values. During childhood and adolescence, but also as adults, we are often faced with great challenges. Fundamental human values can easily be pushed into the background by ongoing stress and painful experiences. We should therefore all consciously promote these values and set a good example. Deep relaxation can revive them in every person.

What makes the IAHV special

The IAHV pursues a unique holistic strategy to promote fundamental human values that are important to all people across national, cultural, religious, and identity boundaries. These include a sense of connectedness to all people and all living things, an attitude of nonviolence, and a willingness to take social responsibility.

We provide practical support and show ways to strengthen oneself internally and better cope with stress. This enables people to deal with challenges and painful experiences with greater confidence.

Our background – the IAHV

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) was founded in 1997 on the initiative of the internationally renowned humanitarian leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It is registered as a non-profit organization under Swiss law in Geneva and as an NGO in Germany, among other countries. It serves as a global platform for humanitarian initiatives and has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). In this context, it participates in various committees on health and conflict resolution and is involved in related initiatives.

What the IAHV does

The IAHV works with many supporters and partner organizations in over 180 countries. It is committed to peace, social responsibility in society, and the strengthening and respect of fundamental human values.

With psychosocial support measures for people suffering from particular mental stress, the IAHV is committed to helping adults from different backgrounds and to promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Other priorities of the IAHV include the promotion of human rights, environmental protection, and

humanitarian aid in natural disasters and in regions affected by war and conflict. In war and crisis regions, the IAHV offers programs for refugees.

In particular, the proven effectiveness of the programs, their low threshold and low costs led, for example, shortly after the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, to the EU funding a two-year IAHV project for trauma and stress relief for Ukrainian refugees in Poland, Lithuania, Germany, and Belgium.
